On September 17, a Russian attack devastated a bridge in Pokrovsk, located in Ukraine’s Donetsk region. As the Russian military steadily advances in eastern Ukraine, the Russian Defense Ministry announced today the occupation of two additional villages in various areas of the region.
According to reports from AFP, since the summer, Russia has regularly announced its military gains in eastern Ukraine, continuing to push toward the critical logistical hub of Pokrovsk, from which thousands have been evacuated.
The Russian Defense Ministry reported that its forces have taken control of Krasnyi Yar village, situated just south of Myrnograd, which is geographically close to Pokrovsk.
Due to the advancing Russian troops, Ukraine has urgently evacuated tens of thousands of people from Pokrovsk and Myrnograd.
Moreover, Moscow indicated that the Russian military had also captured Nevske village in Luhansk, near the Donetsk border.
Reuters reported that TASS, the Russian state news agency, cited the Defense Ministry’s announcement regarding the capture of Krasnyi Yar in Donetsk and Nevske in Luhansk.
Ukrainian forces, in their morning reports shared via the Telegram messaging app, stated that they repelled a Russian attack in Krasnyi Yar near the frontline in Pokrovsk over the past day. They also noted attempts by Russian troops to breach Ukrainian defenses around Nevske, located along the Lyman frontline.
