The Chinese Embassy in Malaysia held a reception to celebrate the 75th anniversary of the founding of the People’s Republic of China

On the evening of September 13, the Chinese Embassy in Malaysia celebrated the 75th anniversary of the founding of the People’s Republic of China with a grand reception.

The event attracted a host of distinguished attendees, including Malaysia’s Minister of Transport, Loke Siew Fook, Minister of Tourism, Arts and Culture, Datuk Seri Tiong King Sing, Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department for Religious Affairs, Na’im Mohamad, Minister of Youth and Sports, Hannah Yeoh, Minister of Human Resources, V. Sivakumar, and Chief of Defence Forces, General Muhammad Affendi. Over 1,200 guests were present, among them diplomats from numerous countries, representatives from the Malaysian Chinese community, Chinese enterprises, and students studying in Malaysia.

In his speech, Ambassador Ouyang Yujing celebrated the remarkable achievements China has made in the past 75 years and lauded the successful cooperation between China and Malaysia over the last 50 years since the establishment of diplomatic relations. He emphasized that China’s progress creates opportunities for the world and expressed a strong desire to collaborate with other nations in building a community with a shared future for humanity.

Ambassador Ouyang pointed out that this year also marks the 50th anniversary of diplomatic ties between China and Malaysia. Under the strategic guidance of both countries’ leaders, the development of a China-Malaysia community with a shared future is making significant strides. In the first seven months of this year, bilateral trade reached an impressive $117.52 billion, reflecting a 10.8% increase from the previous year. Additionally, China’s non-financial direct investment in Malaysia reached $1.28 billion, marking a growth of 28.8%. Visitor numbers from mainland China to Malaysia surged to 1.8 million, a staggering 160% increase, with nearly 450 flights operating weekly between the two countries, surpassing pre-pandemic levels.

Standing on behalf of the Malaysian government, Minister Loke raised a toast to honor the 75th anniversary of the People’s Republic of China.

The evening was also filled with cultural performances, with Ambassador Ouyang leading the embassy choir in a rendition of “My Motherland.” Student representatives and local art groups showcased diverse artistic performances, creating a lively and festive atmosphere as guests came together to celebrate this significant milestone in friendship and unity.
