Recently, the non-profit organization Citizens for a Better Community (CBC) hosted an event in Fremont to rally support for California Proposition 36. The local community was encouraged to vote in favor of this measure in the upcoming November election.
CBC’s president, Liang Hongyi, along with several board members, Fremont Mayor Lily Mei, mayoral candidate Raj Salwan, and multiple city council candidates attended the event.
Proposition 36 aims to reevaluate property crimes and strengthen penalties related to drug offenses in a bid to curb the rising crime rates in California.
Established in 1992, CBC has been dedicated to enhancing civic awareness and engagement within the Fremont community. The organization is particularly experienced in voter education and youth leadership development.
CBC highlighted that Proposition 36 offers an effective approach to tackle the current issues surrounding crime and drug addiction. By implementing stricter penalties on habitual offenders, the measure seeks to protect the community from crime while also providing treatment and recovery opportunities for individuals struggling with addiction, helping them rebuild their lives.
During the event, CBC urged all voters to support Proposition 36. The organization believes that this measure will not only provide better protection for the community but also create pathways for those in need to find recovery, contributing to the establishment of safer and healthier communities throughout California.
