The National Day Committee is set to strengthen ties with overseas compatriots by organizing a visit to Taiwan from November 11 to 15. This initiative aims to thank the Overseas Community Affairs Council and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs for their longstanding support and to showcase the unity among expatriates.

The primary objective of this visit is to express gratitude for the Taiwanese government’s continued support of expatriate activities while fostering mutual understanding between the two regions. Committee members have highlighted the significance of the National Day flag-raising ceremony in the San Francisco Bay Area, viewing it not just as a demonstration of loyalty and love for the homeland, but also as a tangible expression of public diplomacy. Engaging with various government sectors and local officials in Taiwan, the visiting group aims to deepen its understanding of the current social, economic, and political landscape to enhance future interactions and cooperation between the expatriate community and Taiwan’s government.

The delegation plans to visit major cities, including Taipei, Hsinchu, Taichung, Tainan, and Kaohsiung, for in-depth discussions. Members of the visiting group noted that face-to-face interactions are essential for gaining insights into governmental operations and establishing a solid foundation for future collaborations.

Through these exchanges, the delegation hopes to educate more Taiwanese citizens on how expatriates express their patriotism during events like the National Day ceremony. They emphasized that with continued support from the Taiwanese government, there will be plans to host National Day flag-raising events in expatriate areas, promoting public diplomacy and showcasing the solidarity among overseas Taiwanese.

This visit marks a new chapter in the communication and cooperation between Taiwan and its overseas compatriots. The National Day Committee is optimistic that this initial visit will pave the way for more interactions and collaborative efforts in the future.
