On October 21, the information center of the Canton Fair in Guangzhou reported that the first phase of the 136th Canton Fair was held from October 15 to 19. The event attracted a remarkable turnout of over 130,000 foreign buyers from 211 countries and regions, marking a 4.6% increase compared to the previous session.
Buyers from countries involved in the Belt and Road Initiative made up more than 90,000 attendees, accounting for 69.7%, which is a 6.8% rise from last time. Additionally, approximately 30,000 buyers from BRICS nations represented 22.5% of the total, with a growth of 5.5%. European and American buyers totaled around 24,000, or 18.1%, reflecting a 4.8% increase, while buyers from the Middle East surged to about 20,000, a substantial increase of 44.2%. Many Chinese exhibitors noted that foreign buyers arrived with clear purchasing goals and a strong intent to place orders, showcasing their confidence in Chinese suppliers and products.
This phase of the fair highlighted “advanced manufacturing,” with top-quality enterprises and digital, smart, and green products taking center stage. Out of the 11,165 exhibitors, around 3,600 were engaged in sectors related to digital technology and intelligent manufacturing. Notably, 57.8% of exhibitors utilized technologies such as big data, artificial intelligence, and the industrial internet to enhance their supply chains. A wide array of new products, technologies, and materials were presented, including 390,000 digital products. Furthermore, 55.9% of exhibitors held patents in the green low-carbon sector, showcasing over 1.04 million green low-carbon products.
High-tech and high-value-added products like smart appliances, new energy vehicles, industrial automation equipment, humanoid robots, smart bionic hands, and hydrogen-powered bicycles garnered significant interest. This trend indicates that Chinese manufacturing is rapidly moving up the value chain, with domestic enterprises enhancing their independent innovation capabilities and the core competitiveness of Chinese products.
The second phase of the 136th Canton Fair is set to take place from October 23 to 27, themed around “Quality Home Life.” It will feature three major categories—household goods, gifts and decorations, and building materials and furniture—across 15 exhibition areas, with 10,040 offline participating enterprises. Notably, the import section will include 267 companies from 33 countries and regions.
