The 136th China Import and Export Fair, also known as the Canton Fair, is currently taking place in Guangzhou. During our interviews, it became evident that a significant number of innovative products marked as “Made in China” are emerging, capturing the attention of international buyers with their technological prowess. The atmosphere at the booths is bustling with inquiries and negotiations.
At the machinery exhibition area, a laser cutting machine caught the eye of many foreign purchasers. After an operator uploaded the design to the system, the machine was able to cut a steel pipe into the desired shape in under two minutes.
“This high-speed laser cutting machine is a new product we developed this year, specifically designed for industries such as furniture and elevators. Compared to older models, it is more cost-effective, boosts efficiency by 40%, and achieves cutting precision of 0.05mm,” explained He Yuyang, sales manager of Foshan Huibaisheng Laser Technology Co., Ltd.
Founded in 2004, Huibaisheng Laser achieved a production value of nearly 800 million yuan (approximately $120 million) in 2023, with exports accounting for 40%. Their products are shipped to over 60 countries and regions, including South Korea, Brazil, Singapore, and Indonesia.
“This year’s Canton Fair has attracted buyers from countries like Russia, the U.S., Canada, and Spain, and many clients have already expressed their interest with deposits. We anticipate contract signings at our factory after the fair,” He noted.
Guangzhou Shiyuan Electronics Technology Co., Ltd., a regular participant at the Canton Fair, is showcasing its overseas products for the first time this year, including smart TV mainboards and interactive flat panels. The company’s main control boards for LCD televisions hold about 28.2% of the global market share, maintaining their lead in the industry.
According to Duan Yu, Chief Strategic Resource Officer of Shiyuan, the company is seizing the increasing demand for educational technology in certain European countries and India, resulting in significant business growth. Shiyuan has achieved revenues exceeding 20 billion yuan for three consecutive years. On the first day of the fair, over 58 buyers from the U.S., Netherlands, South Korea, Egypt, Turkey, and Pakistan engaged with Shiyuan.
Xunlei (Guangzhou) Intelligent Technology Co., Ltd. showcased several innovative products at this year’s fair, including barcode scanners, long-range precision scanners, high-end cameras, and portable printers, demonstrating the strength of Chinese manufacturing on a global scale.
Yang Zhouzhou, the brand market manager for Xunlei, shared, “We have been focusing on the smart recognition application sector for a long time. Our best-selling overseas product is a portable barcode scanner, which operates easily with one hand and sells well in Europe and America. Currently, our products reach nearly 150 countries and regions worldwide.”
In the home appliances section, Guangzhou Haiweite Technology Co., Ltd. introduced its new “open-ear clip headphones,” which have gained popularity among international clients. This headphones feature spatial audio and head-tracking technology, creating an immersive listening experience.
“We remain committed to independent research and original design, with revenue growth exceeding 60% in the first half of this year. Our products are now exported to over 100 countries and regions,” said Yu Shaomei, sales director of Haiweite, adding that around 60 to 70 clients have already scheduled meetings at the fair.
This year’s Canton Fair is a showcase of China’s “smart manufacturing,” reflecting a new phase of high-quality development for Chinese products as they transition from “selling products” to “selling brands.” “In the international market, relying solely on product competition is increasingly challenging. We need to focus on brand culture and image. This year, we have intensified our investment in brand building, and our gaming headphones have successfully gained recognition in Brazil,” Yu concluded.
