-Beijing Cultural Book Series- and other Beijing-flavored books were unveiled at the 2024 Tianfu Book Fair

On October 13, 2024, the Chengdu International Book Fair and the 12th National Publishing and Museum Distribution Conference kicked off at the Chengdu Century City New International Convention and Exhibition Center. The Beijing Publishing Group showcased a collection of books that highlight the city’s cultural essence, including titles from the “Beijing Cultural Book Series,” emphasizing the unique charm of publishing in the capital.

At the exhibition, the Beijing Publishing Group presented nearly 1,500 titles spread across various categories, including humanities, social sciences, literature, education, children’s books, popular science, art photography, tourism, and lifestyle products. Featured prominently were award-winning titles like “Beishang” and “Baoshui,” as well as thematic publications such as “The Choice of Modern China” and the “Cultural Tour Series of Beijing’s Central Axis” (16 volumes), which explore the cultural heritage of Beijing. The offerings also included works by Sichuan authors, such as “Yun Zhong Ji” and “Po Di Shi Ji: Teacher Yang and Her University.”

Throughout the book fair, the Beijing Publishing Group organized several significant author reading events. Highlights included a session with author A Lai, who shared insights on his book “Yun Zhong Ji” and discussed themes of warmth and memory. The event also featured a reader meet-and-greet with Xu Zechen, the recipient of the 10th Mao Dun Literature Prize, who took attendees on a journey through the secret history of a river and a nation. Additionally, award-winning author Qiao Ye, the 11th Mao Dun Literature Prize winner, engaged with readers to discuss the literary portrayal of rural China’s modernization and the profound connection between literature and real life.
