On October 24, 2023, a press conference was held for the 2024 Beike Beijing Marathon and the National Marathon Championships (Stage 3) in Beijing, where the organizing committee provided key details about the event, including its preparation progress. The conference also unveiled the new race uniforms and finisher medals.
The 2024 Beike Beijing Marathon and the National Marathon Championships, jointly organized by the Chinese Athletic Association and the Beijing Municipal Sports Bureau, are set to take place on November 3, starting at 7:30 AM. The event will feature both a marathon and the National Marathon Championships, with a total participant cap of 30,000 runners, which includes general participants, athletes competing in the national championship, and invited guests. Registration opened on October 2 at 11 AM and drew an impressive 182,949 runners from 43 countries and regions within just three days, marking a record high in registrations.
Notably, the race will continue to utilize its classic route, but enhancements have been made to the start area. The starting arch will be moved 100 meters north to the east side of Tiananmen Square, allowing participants to gather and start more smoothly and prepare for the race with greater ease.
During the press conference, the finisher medal design for the 2024 Beike Beijing Marathon was also revealed. The medal features a blend of Eastern aesthetics and modern artistry, characterized by a minimalist design that incorporates the unique shapes of the National Stadium (Bird’s Nest) and the National Speed Skating Hall (Ice Ribbon) through intricate layering. This design captures the distinct charm of Beijing as a cultural capital and a city known for hosting the Olympics twice.
Additionally, the new race uniforms were showcased. The uniforms reflect a stylish and minimalist design, featuring an artistic representation that merges running figures with the silhouettes of Beijing’s landmarks within the letters spelling “BEIJING.” This not only highlights the cultural symbols of the event but also embodies the passion and allure of marathon running. The men’s uniform will be a tank top, while the women’s will consist of a short-sleeve T-shirt, both in classic red—symbolizing the energy and vibrancy of the Beijing Marathon.
