However, his attorney has announced that following a settlement with the plaintiff, Polanski will no longer face trial for the accusations.
Alexander Rufus-Isaacs, Polanski’s attorney in the U.S., confirmed via email that a “mutually satisfactory settlement” was reached this summer regarding the case connected to the director of “The Pianist,” and the lawsuit has been officially withdrawn.
The civil lawsuit filed in June 2023 alleged that in 1973, Polanski took a girl who was in her early teens to dinner at a restaurant in Los Angeles. According to the allegations, Polanski provided her with tequila, which caused her to feel dizzy. He then reportedly drove her to his home, where the assault occurred.
The lawsuit sought an unspecified amount in damages, but the plaintiff’s attorney did not respond to inquiries from the press.
