Funmi Ogundare recently spoke with us about a significant milestone celebrated by the Holy Child College Old Girls Association, specifically the graduating classes from 1979 to 1984. The association has made a generous donation of N500,000 to the Society of the Holy Child Jesus (SHCJ) in honor of the school’s 40th anniversary.
In addition to the monetary donation, they contributed a 75-inch Smart Screen television for the school hall and provided bags of rice for the staff. The event, themed ‘Back to School,’ was a vibrant celebration that brought together former classmates and underscored the academic values instilled by the institution.
Mrs. Helen Irumudomon, president of the association, shared her thoughts on this momentous occasion. “Forty years is a significant milestone for any school,” she remarked. “It’s crucial for us to come together at this time to give back to an institution that has played a pivotal role in our educational journeys and life successes. I don’t think anyone who attended this school has ever regretted it.”
She expressed her joy about the event, emphasizing that no gift is too grand for their alma mater. “We are thrilled that our fellow graduates from 1979 to 1984 have stepped up. We will continue to give what we can to the school that laid the foundation for our achievements,” Mrs. Irumudomon stated.
Encouraging other alumni to contribute, she said, “We urge our juniors and seniors who have walked these halls to also make donations. This way, the school and its students can continue to serve as shining examples in the community.”
