On October 16, the China News Service reported that the second Tongzhou Global Development Forum is set to take place from October 18 to 20 in Beijing. Over a thousand international guests from nearly 40 countries will gather to discuss global development and the future of humanity.
The forum, initiated by Renmin University of China in October 2023 and co-organized with the Tongzhou District People’s Government, is centered on the theme of “Focusing on Global Development and Caring for Humanity’s Destiny.” It aims to create a high-level dialogue platform for political, academic, and business leaders worldwide to collaboratively address strategic global development issues. The forum will generate original, forward-looking, high-quality research outcomes concerning global development, security, and civilization, providing theoretical guidance and intellectual support for China’s and the world’s development practices.
This year’s forum will focus on the theme “Building a Community for Development and Co-creating a New Era for Humanity.” It will delve into a range of critical topics closely related to human societal progress, aiming to align the rejuvenation process of the Chinese nation with the construction of a community with a shared future for mankind. A significant report titled “Humanity 2050: Comprehensive Development of People and Society” will be released during the event.
Notable attendees will include politicians, representatives from international organizations, diplomats from various countries, renowned scholars, entrepreneurs, prominent social figures, and media representatives, bringing together over 1,000 participants.
The forum will feature 11 sub-forums where both domestic and foreign guests will engage in in-depth discussions on themes such as “Global Smart Governance and New Forms of Human Development,” “Connecting Through the Belt and Road Initiative to Establish a New Global Trade Order,” “Practicing Multilateralism and Promoting Global Financial Governance Reform,” “Political Party Governance Capacity and Modernization of Global South Countries,” “New Energy and the Global Climate Agenda,” “Global Food Systems and Security,” “Focusing on Global Green Development and Building a Beautiful World,” “The Journey of Diverse Civilizations and Global Civilizational Development,” “Youth Innovation and the Future of Global Development,” “Reflections on a Century of Theory: Constructing a New Model for Global Development,” and “Global Challenges and Governance: Policy Design by Chinese Youth.”
During the forum, an International Advisory Committee for the Tongzhou Global Development Forum will be established, along with the Renmin University International Strategy and Development Committee and the Renmin University Regional and Country Studies “1+N” Global Cooperation Alliance. Additionally, the Beijing Tongzhou overseas social media account will officially launch.
