People’s Forum Online Review – Transform patriotism into a journey of serving the country

The homeland provides unwavering support for its people, and heroes serve as the defining coordinates of a nation’s spirit. This year we celebrate the 75th anniversary of the founding of the People’s Republic of China, with September 30th designated as Martyrs’ Day. It’s a time for all party members and officials to reflect on the sentiment of “never forget the martyrs” as we celebrate National Day, recognizing the difficult journey that has brought us to this moment. By honoring the memory of these heroes, strengthening our connection with the people through genuine service, and committing to tangible actions, we can pay tribute to those who have sacrificed so much.

As the saying goes, “Four hundred million people tread the same path, united in a common purpose.” The Chinese nation deeply respects its heroes and actively fosters their emergence. Throughout the revolutionary wars, countless brave souls laid down their lives for national independence and people’s liberation. Even in today’s peaceful times, there are still individuals who courageously step up in critical moments to maintain social stability and protect their communities, as well as those who diligently work in their everyday roles without seeking recognition. The revolutionary spirit of our past is handed down through generations and has become an integral part of every Communist Party member’s identity. It’s essential for party members and officials to cultivate this red tradition, share the stories of the Party, the revolution, and our heroes, and truly recognize their responsibilities by reflecting on the rich history of the Party and their original missions. This introspection is key to embodying the political essence of today’s Communists and ensuring that their sense of duty is deeply rooted in their hearts.

The exemplary deeds of our heroes are a source of inspiration and uplift us all. As the vanguard of this new era, party members and officials should consciously look to these heroes as role models, placing love for their homeland and its people at the forefront of their actions. This approach is fundamental to fulfilling the Party’s mission and embodying what it means to be exemplary Party members. It’s vital that we maintain a sincere concern for our nation and its people, demonstrating patriotism through lifelong dedication and relentless effort. By fulfilling our national responsibilities and serving the people, we can express our personal values and showcase our character. Upholding the principle that “people come first” serves as our guiding compass, allowing us to appreciate the genuine passion that heroes had for alleviating the suffering of their fellow citizens. We must embody the straightforward work ethic of “not taking a single thread from the masses,” ensuring a strong connection with the people and fostering mutual dedication between the heart of the Party and the heart of the populace.

The clarion call of the new era has been sounded, and the stories of “ordinary heroes” continue to unfold. Whether it involves driving technological innovation to overcome critical challenges, engaging in grassroots initiatives for rural revitalization, or investing in education to nurture outstanding talent, everyone has the opportunity to shine in their respective roles and contribute to our nation’s strength and prosperity. “Every spark of fire gathers into a torch.” Party members and officials should channel their patriotic sentiments into actionable efforts for the nation, actively participating in various national and societal development initiatives. By immersing themselves in their roles and continuously honing their skills, they can adapt to new changes, unlocking new potentials across areas such as economic development, technological innovation, rural rejuvenation, and disaster response—while consistently sharing heroic stories and demonstrating a readiness to take on formidable challenges.
